Ginny Phang-Davey

Ginny Phang-Davey is a name synonymous with transformative change in Singapore’s birth practices. As the first Singaporean doula and a trailblazing international trainer for birth professionals, Ginny brings over two decades of experience and a legacy of attending more than 1,000 births. Her impact has shaped how women approach childbirth in Singapore today, blending empowerment with evidence-based care.

Ginny co-founded Four Trimesters, spearheading innovations such as introducing Hypnobirthing, Optimal Maternal Positioning, and hydrotherapy/water birthing at leading hospitals, including Gleneagles, NUH, and Mount Alvernia. Collaborating with Dr. Lai Fon Min of A Company for Women, she pioneered home birthing in Singapore and later established the Four Trimesters Birth Sanctuary (2017), where families could birth and recover in a nurturing, home-like environment.

Her influence extends beyond Singapore. Ginny has trained birth professionals globally, from Brazil to China and across Asia. Locally, she has mentored over half of Singapore’s doula community. Notably, she was the first WHO Breastfeeding-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) coordinator in Singapore, helping public hospitals achieve WHO accreditation for breastfeeding support.

Ginny’s personal experiences enrich her professional expertise. A mother of two with a 21-year age gap between her children, she brings unique insights into parenting across life stages. From single parenting and extended breastfeeding with her first child to conceiving her second via IVF in her mid-forties, Ginny embodies resilience and adaptability. She continues to breastfeed her youngest through toddlerhood, a testament to her advocacy for informed and empowered choices.

Rooted in a simple yet profound philosophy, Ginny’s goal is clear: to equip every parent with the knowledge and confidence to navigate a safe, fulfilling birth and postpartum journey.
